Logitech has been a go-to brand name for home theater entertainment and audio solutions, offering products from speakers to all-in-one remote controls. Most of Logitech’s products used to be for desktop and notebook users, but the Logitech H800 is something that could benefit a lot of users, from gamers to tablet and smartphone users. The Logitech H800 is a wireless, Bluetooth headset with a built-in microphone. While most Bluetooth headset models can only fit one ear and are marketed for voice calls, the Logitech H800 can be used for gaming and casual music listening.

Logitech H800: Build and Quality

At first glance, the Logitech H800 may seem to have a basic design with an adjustable headband, protruding microphone, controls on one side and foam pads with no felt or cloth covers. In terms of build quality, the Logitech H800 may appear to be not so impressive, with its design engineered to be light. Because of this, the headset may be prone to break or damage easily.

However, the Logitech H800 can be folded, making it easier to carry around. Who doesn’t love headphones that can be folded right?

The ear pads fit all ears just fine and the microphone arm is flexible and can be extended, allowing a user to adjust the mic at a distance just outside the mouth. The control buttons on one side may feel a little bit clunky, though. The compartments of each driver are also covered and may also feel clunky. Meanwhile, the right side of the Logitech H800 houses playback controls and a button for accepting calls. The left side of the Logitech H800 stores a wireless dongle for using a PCs, desktops, laptops, a computer or notebook.

Logitech H800 Features

The Logitech H800 wireless headset comes with a built-in battery and is also rechargeable using a micro USB connector. Take note that the battery cannot be replaced or removed. The controls on the Logitech H800 include a basic volume control. There are printed markings and small dots to make it easier for a user to work their way through the buttons. There’s a microphone mute button and a play/pause button. Underneath the earphone, the controls for skipping or repeating tracks are located, next to the micro USB charging port and mode selection switch.

Setting up the Logitech H800 with a mobile device is easy as well as with PCs, laptops and tablets. As soon as the USB dongle is plugged in, Windows can automatically detect the Logitech H800 as sound cards and all audio is then directed to it. Audio playback and volume control changes directly affect Windows, which basically means that this model has the ability to control Windows volume, not the headset volume. A user can also hear a notification beep, a sign which means that the extreme ends of the volume have been reached.

Logitech H800 Performance

The Logitech H800 fits most head sizes just fine; using it during intense workouts is not recommended, but a brisk walk can be fine. In terms of audio quality, it’s not that impressive like Sony, Bose or Sennheiser, and the drivers even tend to distort the audio, even at low volumes. Bass, mids and highs are average and the tone is fairly natural, best for casual listening like tuning in to Spotify, watching movies, TV shows or videos. If you are planning to use the Logitech H800 for gaming or playing other multimedia on the computer, you may have to opt for another headset whose technology and software is made specifically for that purpose.

Logitech H800: Microphone Quality

The microphone quality of Logitech H800 is decent enough for voice calls and gaming. Wireless performance of the Logitech H800 is quite impressive, taking not more than 3 seconds to pair and switch between modes. The wireless performance of the Logitech H800 is also great even if you use it in a large, spacious room with obstacles such as metal or wooden partitions. The range of the wireless scope of the Logitech H800 is around 15ft-33ft from the USB wireless dongle, allowing users to stream audio easily. However, you may want to go easy when using the Logitech H800 with concrete walls and distance because you might encounter connectivity issues like stuttering and choppiness.

The microphone of the Logitech H800 has noise cancellation technology that effectively eliminates background noise and allows the user to hear their own voice instead of the ambient noise. There is also a flexible and rotating boom arm that can be adjusted for optimal vocal pickup. When not in use, the microphone can be hidden in the headband. The mic of the Logitech H800 also allows a user to chat in multiplayer online games and with some applications such as AIM, Windows Live, Logitech Vid HD, Skype, Gmail, etc.

Logitech H800 Design

The Logitech H800 has a light and fold and go design that allows a user to enjoy portability. It also has a thick-on ear cushion and padded headbands to provide lasting comfort for long listening sessions. There’s also a built-in EQ that can be optimized by a user for listening to music or chatting. The controls are enclosed in one earcup so a user can have the ability to switch tracks, adjust volume, answer calls, mute mic and switch devices with ease. There is also an internal rechargeable battery that gives up to 6 hours of playback time. The battery can be recharged via USB for a touch of convenience.

Logitech H800: Is it worth the purchase?

The Logitech H800 is a decent headset with Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless tech. In terms of comfort, the Logitech H800 has a padded headband and on-ear cushions. This item also has laser-tuned drivers, allowing users to enjoy wireless music and have VoIP voice chats from tablets, computers and smartphones. It also offers exceptional versatility thanks to its compatibility with 2.4GHz and Bluetooth wireless tech. There’s also an included USB nano receiver that can be used with a PC or Mac to send audio to the Logitech H800. The receiver is so tiny that a user can leave it connected all the time and forget that it’s there.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced headset with wireless tech that is versatile to be sued for a call, for an online game, for watching shows on TV or for listening to music, the Logitech H800 is a good choice.
